Opening possibilities for better communication and connection.
184 Residents of Pag-asa in the Kalayaan Group of Islands, Palawan can now access Free Wi-Fi for All made possible by the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan II earlier said that he would prioritize looking for a faster, cheaper, secure, and free connectivity.
The free Wi-Fi will help them in their livelihood, education, and everyday tasks.
Ana Rhea Bania, Officer-in-Charge for Tourism at the Municipal Office of Kalayaan, was among those who were grateful for the program.
“Free WiFi is a huge help for us, given our situation here at Kalayaan, how isolated it is. We get to save a lot since we used to pay almost P300 every day, adding up to around P9,000 monthly, just so we can connect to the internet that is slow and unstable,” she said.
Residents can connect at the municipal plaza and the Kalayaan Town Hall.
