Going to the market has been a hassle for mothers and to market-goers especially on rainy days and when the heat is too much. But going to market is no hustle anymore instead you can turn your backyard into a home garden of exactly what you need in preparing your family's meals. It will not only save you time, money, and effort in the long run but you will also contribute to a greener neighborhood.
Here are tips on how you can start your own home gardening:
1. List down the specific plants you would want to plant in your backyard. Preferably these should be your necessities in every meal you would be preparing or something herbal that would be very beneficial for the family.
2. Research the planting method of the plants you have listed. Not all plants have the same method, some needs a specific amount of water, sunlight, and soil/nutrients.
3. Prepare your gardening tools: shovel, trowel, hose, spade, spading fork, rake, hoe.
4. Using your gardening tools, clean up the space allotted for your home garden. It is best if you organize them very well according to categories and needs even before you plant them.
5. After preparing your garden, you are ready to start planting. You may have listed your preferences already but here are just suggestions you may want to consider.

- Tomato (Php 35- 170): same with onion and garlic, tomatoes are one of the most used ingredients in Filipino cuisine, it will never be a waste because it will be very handy for any occasions and events.
- Cherry Radish (Php 20-150): no Filipino will not request sinigang for a meal that is why it is essential that you get this important ingredient handy especially when unexpected visitors come requesting for sinigang.
- Mint (Php 20-170): this herb is very beneficial for the hygiene (bad breath) and the health most especially. You can use this to make a tea after a long and stressful day at work or school and at the same time an additional herb for your favorite pasta.

It would be very handy to have this on your backyard for treating osteoarthritis, muscle pain and soreness, lower blood sugar, improve heart disease risk, chronic digestion, reduce menstrual pain, and lower cholesterol.
