PARIS, France — The conflict between Israel and Hamas..
Pag tumingin ka, sapak ka. As you heard that, It was already too late, you already glanced at… *smack*
Does anyone remember those weird hand signs or games that we did when we were in elementary? Back in the day, everytime you all see those Volkswagen Beetle. You have to whack someone and say “Pendong Peace”-- or depends on what you and your friends agreed on. No? Well, how about that hand sign, with all your fingertips in one hand are pressed together. Siopao or “Nga-nga”, as they label it sometimes, it varies. Familiar right?
Here are some of those weird hand sign and games, we, at some point, did in our childhood:
Chamone or Chelempoy -- is another variation of the Pendong Peace. It’s where someone flicks their finger under your nose and you can’t flick back if they’re doing the peace sign. It’s just a weird game to annoy your friends, more of an excuse to irritate them basically. Weird? Yes. Did we do it? Yes. Regrets? No.
Pendong Peace -- How it started? There are no written records. It’s basically just spread out to different schools or neighborhoods. Originally, when you see a Volkswagen Beetle or a bald head, you smack someone and say Pendong Peace as a sort of protection. The condition can be changed depending on what the group decided on. Some do a certain car color or a certain shirt pattern. Again, necessary? No, but we anticipated every bald man (or woman) out there.
*Hand sign* -- This was by far my favorite, for how random and pointless it is. Basically, you do a certain hand sign, not those Naruto-type, but like simple ones. Sometimes a fist, Peace sign or the puppet hand. You randomly do the sign either stealthily or openly and if someone looks you either whack them or do whatever you want. Although gradeschool was how many years ago, I’m still guilty in doing *fist*
